May 15, 2017 :: WCCO-TV has reported that City of Minneapolis officials and Surdyk’s Liquor have reached a tentative deal for punishment of the store being open on Sunday, March 12th. The City Council had rejected an earlier punishment because they deemed it was too lenient. The city had initially levied a 30 day license suspension with a $2,000 fine. Then changed it to a $6,000 fine with a 10 day license suspension for the first 10 Sunday’s starting in July (when Sunday liquor begins in Minnesota). The deal reached now will levy a $50,000 fine but only suspend their license for the first 3 Sunday’s in July. The Council will vote on a new punishment this week.
