Last year the Supreme Court ruled that sports wagering is legal in all 50 states, some states (like New Jersey who brought the lawsuit) have already passed laws to allow it in their states. The Minnesota legislature is expected to debate the issue in the 2019 session which begins on January 8th. Issues to be worked out involve: Who will run the sports wagering? (the State, the State Lottery, Tribal Casinos, Charities, etc.) How much will the state take in taxes? Where will the bets be taken? (in person, at bars, lottery locations, online, etc.) Is there any Federal regulations involved? And many more questions.
