Biometric ID for alcohol purchases in Washington State?

From an article in the Seattle Times, purchasers of alcohol may soon be able to use biometric age identification instead of standard ID cards.

The Washington state Senate on Monday, February 12th unanimously passed a bill to allow a business to use biometric identification — the palm of your hand, a scan of your eye or a recording of your voice — as a way to check the age of someone trying to purchase alcohol.
