Governor Walz Warns Bars After Covid Cases Increase

Gov. Tim Walz  told reporters Monday that the state might consider shutting down bars statewide if the outbreaks can’t be controlled. The State Health Dept. said that it has identified Covid-19 outbreaks at 2 bars in Mankato and 2 in Minneapolis.

But the Minnesota Licensed Beverage Association, which represents the industry, issued its own warning last week to members to follow state rules. “It took 3 months of intense negotiations and sacrifice to get what we have now,” Executive Director Tony Chesak wrote. “We cannot allow for us to take a step backwards and jeopardize our current progress.”
