As we all know, consumer preferences are changing and beer sales are struggling.
A great way to respond to this challenge is by participating in Minnesota Beer Day on November 1!
To help you promote the day and make money, here is a link to purchase specially designed glasses:
Minnesota Beer Day 2025 – Exclusive Pint Glass & Taproom Events
If you can’t afford the minimum 3 case order, you can split with neighboring facilities.
Here is are a couple of EASY ways for on-sale members to participate and get “butts in seats:”
- Pick 1 MN Craft Brewery and offer “Keep the Glass!”. Ex: Purchase any Surly product and we’ll pour it in a Limited Edition glass for you to keep!
- For example: the bar purchases 72 glasses (the minimum) for an investment of $180.72, so $2.51 per glass. Let’s say the beer costs $1.30 per pint (Bent Paddle Hazy) assuming 100 pints per keg. Sell a pint with the glass for $6 for a 64% gross profit. That’s likely higher than your target beer cost day to day, BUT just like Happy Hour deals, your goal is to fill the bar, trading volume for GP%, and promotions are geared to drive traffic. And the most important part….they aren’t going to have JUST 1 BEER! You’ll make your money on the additional drinks/food that they purchase while they are there.
- Offer $2 off (or whatever) ALL MN craft beers from 4-8pm (or whenever).
- Sell the glasses for $5, that’s a 50% margin, which will help cover the beer discount Get a few items donated from a distributor to giveaway during the promotion, do a “Must Be Present to Win” to keep people there. Bars do this all the time for sporting events and it does work.
- If you want to go “all in,” check out the PDF linked here.
Off-sales can also purchase and sell the glasses for promotion and profit.
If you want to go “all in,” check out the PDF for off-sales, linked here.
Let me know if you have questions.
I look forward to hearing your success stories.
